Ms. Schuleter's Art Class
Grades K-2 receive more structured assignments (with some choice imbedded in each project) aimed at building cognitive, collaborative and creative thinking skills. Students learn about the roles artists play in our Communities and cultures as well as how we use art to tell stories.
Grades 3rd-5th explore their semester of art by practicing new skills, imagining their own projects based off of a prompt, planning projects in sketchbooks, creating those projects, and reflecting on their work and the work of others. Students will learn about artist from different time periods and cultures as well as how the arts and creative thinking are imbedded in our cultures and the world around us.
7th grade students also investigate a variety of materials through practice before choosing one to create art with. Students are given a broad topic that they are able to explore and address through the visual art process. As with the younger grades, we explore, research, practice, design, create and reflect. We use sketchbooks and digital portfolios to document our learning.
Art Sonia: Art Sonia is a digital art portfolio that you will be uploading photos of your art into. When the art is uploaded, an email will be sent to your parents and anyone else you have added to your “fan club”. Your family can leave comments for you and order keepsakes with your art. (A portion of the funds come back to the art department as a fundraiser). This is not required but is very beneficial for parent communication.
