Throughout the year, your child will bring home a bookbag with at least one high-success book to practice reading. Reading for at least 20 minutes per night is part of your child's homework. This 20 minutes may include reading by your child, reading with your child, and reading to your child.
Occasionally, your child may choose a book that is too difficult or too easy. Please honor the book choice and know that this is part of the process of finding texts that are "just right." When a book is too difficult, please read and discuss it with your child.
Consistent reading supports young children in becoming more independent in applying strategies and in developing the fluency required for deeper thinking about texts. Please see the attachment for ways to support your child's growing literacy. Happy reading!
