Attendance

Attendance line: 720-972-6610

Each Student is allowed 5 absences per SEMESTER without a doctor's note. There are only 2 semesters per school year.

Absences must be reported on the school’s attendance line, even if the student’s teacher(s) have been informed of the absence. The school’s attendance line may be called at any time to report an absence or tardy.

K-5 Students: If the student is 10-59 minutes late, it is an unexcused tardy. If a student is 60 or more minutes late, it is considered a half-day absence. An unexcused partial absence or unexcused half-day absence cannot be excused without a doctor's note,

6-8 Students: If the student is 10 – 29 mins late it is an unexcused partial absence. If a student is 30 or more minutes late, they are considered absent from that class period. An unexcused partial absence or absence from a single class period cannot be excused without a doctor’s note.

Missing a class because you overslept is NOT an excused absence or tardy.

District Policy 5020 provides specific guidelines regarding student attendance.

Elementary attendance is taken twice a day, first thing in the morning and directly following lunch. Middle school attendance is taken at the beginning of each class period.

Per District Policy, vacations or non-emergency activities should be scheduled for days or times when students are not in school. Reasonable requests for absences to be excused due to vacation or for other non-emergency reasons will be approved if the student has a 95% or higher attendance rate over the prior two (2) grading periods, and if the student is otherwise meeting academic performance expectations as determined by school administration.  Families should fill out a vacation request to document vacation absences.

Early Departure/Late Arrival

Students who must leave school during regular school hours must be signed out through the office by a parent or legal guardian. If you would like to authorize anyone other than a parent or legal guardian to pick up your student, during school hours, please contact the front office at 720-972-3340.  A student may not be dismissed from their classroom until someone has signed the student out. Students cannot be released to leave school alone. Students are involved in instruction until the end of the school day.

We request that you do not pick your students up early unless it is extremely necessary. Students who arrive late to school must check in at the office. If the student arrives after the tardy bell, a parent/guardian must sign them in at the front desk.

Departure Procedures

Students may only exit via their designated doors. Middle school students will be expected to exit using only the middle school doors (#13, #16 or #17) to meet their siblings and/or adults outside of the building. Older elementary siblings may use the hallways to pick up younger siblings. Grade levels will communicate this to students and parents. Students in BASE or extracurricular activities must directly report to BASE or the extracurricular activities. Staff will assist K-2 students. Students and parents are not able to re-enter the building.

Parents are not able to enter the building unless they are scheduled to volunteer or have a meeting. Teachers provide the office with this list.
